CROMER Pictures
Cromer is a lovely Victorian seaside town renowned for its history of the sea, fishing and crabs. It lies in a key position on the North Norfolk coast with its lighthouse beaming out into the night and its famous lifeboat ready to answer any calls of distress. The new lifeboat is housed at the end of Cromer’s famous pier which has wonderful views of the spectacular cliffs and lovely open beaches. The Blue Flag sandy beach is one of the best regarded in the area.
One of Cromer’s most distinguished landmarks is the 14th century church which stands in the centre of the town. The town is now a lovely mix of new and old shops and of course some great restaurants too. Lovely walks along the cliff paths can take you right past the Cromer Golf Course, the Lighthouse and then to Overstrand one way and East Runton and Sheringham the other. There are many opportunities for walking along the coastal paths and several properties owned by The National Trust are within easy reach and the Royal Estate of Sandringham is about an hours drive. A day trip to the nearby Norfolk Broads is highly recommended when visiting this area and there are also numerous places for bird watching along the coast.
If you wish to see Cromer at its liveliest then Carnival Week is a must. There is a whole week of activities around the town and on the cliff tops too – from the Red Arrows giving a spectacular display out over the sea to the wonderful Carnival procession through the streets, a must for all the family and fireworks too!!
The Cromer Pier Show is also a must
and such great fun too. At New Year there is a fantastic firework display off
the Pier. In short there is something for every member of the family to enjoy.
