Mar Menor Golf Resort is a development for Polaris World in the Costa Calida,
near Murcia. The resort is beautifully laid out with lots of lovely gardens
and at present is home to a 9 hole golf course which is currently being extended
to 18 holes all designed by Jack Nicklas. At the centre of the complex is the
beautiful 5 star Intercontinental Hotel Mar Menor with lovely bars and restaurants
and the wonderful ESPA Spa. The whole resort has been very well planned and
the facilities are very good including a wonderful Club House for the use of
the residents with very large lagoon pool, medical centre, physiotherapy, hair
salon, gym, banks and a very well stocked supermarket.
Mar Menor Golf Resort is located close to the town of Los Alcazares with it’s award winning beach Los Narejos. It is one of only five Spanish beaches to be awarded the Q mark for quality this year. There are numerous restaurants and beach bars along this stretch of the coast which still has a very Spanish feel. The centre of Los Alcazares has many shops and a lovely town square. The pretty palm tree lined promenade along the sea front has lots of chiringitos (beach bars) dotted along it and a lovely sandy beach.
Cabo de Palos is another beautiful town with a small port which is home to a host of lovely boats and of course wonderful seafood restaurants.
The Costa Calida offers a vast range of activities, sightseeing and history. The two historical cities of Cartagena and Murcia are a half an hour away. The internationally renown La Manga Club with it’s bars, clubs and restaurants and championship golf courses is less than a 15 minute drive away. There is sailing on the Mar Menor and if fun is needed for the family you can enjoy a day at the new Terra Mitica Theme Park, a 40 minute drive on the motorway.
The resort is easily reached by air from the UK flying into San Javier Airport which is a ten minute drive from Mar Menor Golf. Alicante is a 45 minute drive along the motorway.
